Tramvia de Barcelona did more than 29.8 million trips in 2019, an all-time record in TRAM history and up 2.36% from the previous year. Specifically, there were 29,772,109 trips: 20,226,482 on Trambaix (up 6.12%) and 9,545,627 on Trambesòs (down 4.8%).

The data compiled from last year, in addition to showing that TRAM is very close to reaching 30 million trips per year, show an upward trend, with ticket validations rising more than one million a year from 2013 through last year, when the rise was nearly 700,000 trips.

The drop in trips on Trambesòs is due to the fact that the tram did fewer trips in the first quarters of 2019, from 27 January to 25 April, when service was cut between Glòries and Can Jaumandreu stations due to works on the tunnels at Plaça de les Glòries. The section affected by the works carried out by the Barcelona City Council was covered by a shuttle service.

Since TRAM was launched in 2004, passengers have taken more than 364,540,919 trips on the tram. The Trambaix network, with three lines (T1, T2 and T3) and 29 stops, has been used by 247 million riders since it began operating. The Trambesòs network, which also has three lines (T4, T5 and T6) and 27 stops, has been used by over 116 million passengers.

The Trambaix network began service on 3 April 2004 and the Trambesòs network on 8 May that same year. The number of trips taken on Tramvia de Barcelona has grown steadily since it went into operation, with the only exceptions being 2010 and 2012.
