TRAMEduca, the TRAM educational service, is restarting its educational activities for the 2021-2022 school year after having to stop due to COVID-19 protocols.

This is the fourteenth school year running that TRAM has offered this free educational project aimed at getting participants to learn how the tram network runs and to reflect on civil behaviour, inclusiveness and the environment, all values related to public transport.

Following the recommendations of the Catalan Government, the educational programme was shut down in March 2020 at the same time as the first lockdown. Since then, they have been working on new health and safety protocols in order to get the programme running for primary and secondary schools in the areas that TRAM reaches.

As such, this year they are offering activities in two different formats: online and in-person at external centres. The activities at the Tram installations will still be restricted during the pandemic for health and safety reasons.

Constant renovation

For the 2021-2022 school year, there will also be an activity connected with TRAM Barcelona Open, the international wheelchair tennis tournament and one of the most important projects for the Tram network in order to work on equal opportunities and inclusiveness through sport.

A professional wheelchair tennis player and a participant in the tournament will speak about the importance of adaptive sports, the values they promote and the normalisation of relationships between people regardless of their abilities. Furthermore, the activity will give the group the chance to visit the tournament, which is to be held at the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona in May.

Activity programme for the 2021-2022 school year

The complete range of activities for the 2021-2022 school year is as follows:

Activities with educational quality certification

TRAM offers its activity programme in the TRAMeduca service with the Educational Quality Certificate from the Institute of Education Science (Institut de Ciències de l’Educació - ICE) at the University of Barcelona. This quality certificate is part of the accreditation system for educational activities promoted by the ICE and the Teaching Coordination Board (Consell de Coordinació Pedagògica) of the Barcelona City Council.
